Maps
INTRODUCTION
The project is now providing a map interface that displays project data on a georeferenced and interactive map. Currently two sets of data are available as layers: (1) all locality data generated to date during the initial field season or (2) specimen data from the spiders that have been identified thus far. The mapping utility is a collection of scripts that use the GoogleMaps programming interface. In the page below is embedded a working example of the mapping utility with all of the localities entered thus far. However, it is much easier to view the map utility full size in its own page by clicking on one of the following links:
Map all locality records | Map all identified spiders
Specific records can also be searched on and then mapped using the Locality or Specimen Search.
The zoom button (
) below the standard google maps zoom controls allows the user to draw a rectangle anywhere on the map that will become the new extent of the map screen.
The side panel on the right is an expandable menu that lists all of the points currently displayed on the map. By clicking on an item in the side panel its contents will expand and the corresponding icon on the map will be highlighted
